GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Director of Athletics, Aaron Sagraves is excited to announce the addition of Brianne Elliott as the Golden Eagles first ever competitive cheer coach starting in the 2024-25 season. Earlier this year CU announced the transition from sideline cheer to competitive, and with the move Cornerstone will bring in Elliott to lead the program.

"Bri's energy and leadership skills are something that will fit in great here at Cornerstone on our staff! We are excited to see how she will bring her experience on and off the competition floor to foster an environment that will allow our young women in the program to grow spiritually, academically, and athletically." – Aaron Sagraves, Director of Athletics

Elliott comes to Cornerstone with a significant cheerleading background, spending her entire life around the sport. In coaching, she spent three years at Alma High School, with two seasons as a head coach and one as an assistant before moving to Arizona. She also served for two years on the Champion Cheerleading Staff, a popular cheerleading camp in the area.

Prior to coaching, Elliott competed for two seasons at Alma College as an athlete and helped her team to a runner-up finish at NCA Nationals and STUNT Nationals, while also qualifying four-times for the MHSAA State Championships in high school at Kenowa Hills

Elliott finished her schooling after her two seasons at Alma at Central Michigan University where she earned her Bachelor's in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Health/Physical Education.

When asked about the position, Elliott stated, "I am so excited to get started at a university with such a strong community! I cannot wait to build the competitive program and give cheerleaders an opportunity to grow into great student-athletes and young women."

Elliott will begin officially on December 4, 2023. She will take over the reins from Sue Smith after three seasons as the sideline coach. Cornerstone is incredibly grateful for Smith as she helped manage and build a strong sideline program at Cornerstone but will be stepping down as the program becomes competitive.
