Opening Round of Men's Lacrosse Tournament Complete
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - (Tournament Page) - The opening round of the 2022 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) found the No. 3 and No. 5 seeds moving on to the semifinals. Third-seeded Siena Heights won 7-3 against No. 6 Lourdes while No. 5 Lawrence Tech edged fourth-seeded Madonna 7-6. The semifinals are set for Thursday, April 28 as Lawrence Tech travels to No. 1 Indiana Tech and SHU makes a trip to No. 2 Aquinas.
#5 Lawrence Tech (4-5, 7-7) def. #4 Madonna (5-4, 5-7), 7-6
LTU scored all seven goals in the first three periods and withstood a fourt-period threat to advance to the semifinals. LTU found the net three times in the opening period as Maveric Muscat scored with just 10 seconds remaining to Madonna's single goal for a 3-1 lead. The second period was a carbon copy - three goals for LTU and one for Madonna. LTU's offensive slowed down in the third stanza, scoring just one goal which the Crusaders matched for a 7-3 game. LTU was put on the defensive in the final period as Madonna got a pair of goals at the 14:13 and 7:02 mark to close to within two. Nick Conrad found the net with 90 seconds remaining to squeeze the Blue Devils before LTU held on for the win.

The two teams were evenly matched through the first two periods to put the game at a 3-3 tie heading into the third. Neither team found the next in the third until Devon Plemmons scored with 4:38 on the clock to put SHU up by one and the Saints scored again with 42 seconds left for a 5-3 lead. The fourth started much like the third with about 10 minutes of scoreless play until the Saints scored back-to-back goals to seal the win.
