Indiana Tech captures Men's Soccer Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - (TOURNAMENT PAGE) - For the third straight year, Indiana Tech has won both the men's soccer regular season title and the tournament championship. The Warriors defeated UNOH 3-0 today in a rematch of last year's tournament final to become the first team in WHAC history win both championships three years running.

Indiana Tech receives the WHAC's automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round Nov. 18-20 on campus sites. It was announced last week that IT will serve as an opening round host.

Maxwell Amoako got the scoring started when he found the net off a pass from Jack Koshko at the 26:59 mark. Amoako then sent a ball to Jaxon Simerman in the 41st minute for the second goal of the match. UNOH outshot Tech 5-2 in the first half, but Jaume Salvado was stellarin goal for the Warriors, making four saves in the first 45 minutes, three before Tech scores its first goal.

UNOH came out firing in the second half with a pair of shots in the first four minutes only to have one sail high and the other blocked. The Warrior defense was able to limit the shots the rest of the half and the Warriors added an insurance goal in the 87th minute when Luke Jones scored off an assist from Ryan Steele.

Indiana Tech improves to 16-1-3. UNOH falls to 9-6-4 and will hope tob be selected as an at-large selection.
