Day One Complete at Indoor Track & Field

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - (Live Stream | Live Results) The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) crowned 13 individual champions on the opening day of the 2022 Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Indiana Tech leads both the men's and women's competitions with 70 points and 72 points respectively. Cornerstone (65.5) sits in second in the women's championship with Aquinas in third with 40 points. On the men's side, Siena Heights is in second with 57.5 points and Cornerstone is third (55).

Siena Height saw three event champions on the men's side so far: Davion Curry in the long jump, Zachary Gipple in the shot put, and the 4x800 relay team. Dylan Bikim won the high jump and Victor Rodriguez won the pole vault for Indiana Tech. Madonna's Deangelo Meredith took first in the weight throw while Cornerstone's Colten Covington broke the WHAC record in the men's 5,000m with a time of 15:06.69. The old record set by Sammy Maiyo of Cornerstone in 2008 was 15:10.24.

For the women, Indiana took three titles on Friday: Jaunita Webster-Freeman won the high jump, Carlie Turner won the long jump, and the 4x800 team took first. Jenna Breuker of Cornerstone won the shot put and Cammie McConnell won the 5000m. Aquinas' Laikyn Kulman took first in the pole vault.

Events continue throughout Saturday, Feb. 19.
