MVB Tournament Finals Set

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - (Tournament Page) - The semifinals of the 2022 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference saw the number 1 and 3 seeds advance to the WHAC final inside the Schaefer Center on the campus of Indiana Tech. Third-seeded Aquinas defeated No. 2 Lourdes 3-1 while top-seeded Indiana Tech eliminated No. 4 Siena Heights 3-1.

Aquinas and Indiana Tech will play on April 2 in the championship match to determine the WHAC's automatic qualifier to the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship. The two teams will face off at 3 p.m. in the Schaefer Center.

#3 Aquinas (10-4/21-6) def. #2 Lourdes (10-4/15-7), 3-1 (27-25,22-25,24-26,22-25)
Lourdes took the opening 27-25 and led 10-5 in the second set and held a 19-14 lead before Aquinas scored seven of the next nine points for a 21-21 tie and closed out scoring four of the last five points for a 25-22 to tie the match 1-1. The Saints once again found themselves down early in the third set as Lourdes led 7-2. The Gray Wolves maintained the advantage leading 24-21 only to see Aquinas fight off three set points and score the final five to win 26-24. With set four tied at 17, Aquinas scored six straight points to take control and win 25-22.

#1 Indiana Tech (13-1/27-1) def. #4 Siena Heights (9-5/15-7), 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-17, 25-18)
Siena Heights jumped to an early lead in the opening set and built a six-point lead until Tech fought back for a 17-17 tie. The Warriors scored the next four points to lead 21-17, but SHU battled to tie it at 24. Back-to-back attack errors by the Warriors gave Siena Heights the first set at 26-24. SHU took a 10-7 lead in the second set before Tech scored four of the next five points for a slight advantage. SHU matched points until the Warriors five straight points for a 19-14 lead, eventually winning 25-16. Set three was close early on, but IT scored the last nine points for the 25-17 win. The Warriors enjoyed an early 10-3 lead in set four and never looked back, winning 25-18.
