Saint Mary-of-the-Woods joins WHAC for MVB

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced Saint Mary-of-the-Woods as its newest association member in the sport of men's volleyball. The Pomeroy's 12 other sports compete in the River States Conference which doesn't sponsor men's volleyball. SMWC's associate membership, starting with the 2022-23 season, brings the number of teams sponsoring the sport to nine with six full-time WHAC members (Aquinas, Cornerstone, Indiana Tech, Lawrence Tech, Lourdes, and Siena Heights) and two other associate members from the Crossroads League (Goshen and Mount Vernon Nazarene).

"Week in, week out, we will play versus elite players, great coaches, and championship level programs," noted Pomeroy head coach Ian Harris.

Harris has signed 16 players from across the United States and 4 different countries in total for the inaugural recruiting class as SMWC looks to compete in the league with two teams ranked in the Top 15 and two more receiving votes in the NAIA's final poll.

"Men's volleyball continues to grow in the area and we are thrilled to have Saint Mary-of-the-Woods join us for the upcoming season," said WHAC Commissioner Rob Miller. "The WHAC started with five teams for the 2019 season and it's exciting to see the conference grow in the sport."
