Women's Bowling Honors Released
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - (Complete Honors) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its conference honors for women's bowling in conjunction with the conference tournament at ThunderBowl Lanes.
Indiana Tech senior Maryssa Carey was named Bowler of the Year after rolling a league-high 204.93 average through the four jamborees. It's her third such honor having also won the award in 2019 and 2020. Kiara Smith of Lourdes earned Newcomer of the Year as the highest finishing freshman/newcomer. The head coaches voted LTU head coach Kevin Wemyss as Coach of the Year and Indiana Tech's Tom Osborne as the Champions of Character Coach.
First and Second Team All-Conference honors were awarded based on season averages.
In addition to All-Conference, the WHAC also named its All-Academic Team for juniors or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA. Nominees also must have been in attendance at the nominating school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team consists of one bowler from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
