2024 Women's Bowling Honors Released

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its conference honors for women's bowling in advance of the WHAC Championships on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Royal Scot in Lansing, Mich. Winners will be honored following the conclusion of the event this weekend.

Rochester freshman Sara Ritchie was named the WHAC Bowler of the Year and WHAC Newcomer of the Year thanks to her conference-leading 203.8 average in WHAC events. Ritchie is a native of Flint, Mich.

Brooke Binder of Concordia was close behind with an average of 203.42, earning her First Team All-WHAC honors. Sarah Chilvers (Lourdes), Kayla VanLinden (Aquinas) and Olivia Spaller (Madonna) rounded out the first team with 201.75, 200.69 and 197.25 averages respectively.

WHAC head coaches voted Indiana Tech's Doug Cutler as the Coach of the Year for leading the Warriors to a Regular Season Championship. The title was the third-straight for Indiana Tech and sixth in the last seven years.  Coaches selected Lawrence Tech Head Coach, Kevin Wemyss, as the Champion of Character Coach.

First and Second Team All-Conference honors were awarded based on season averages. Bowlers must bowl in 75% of conference games to be eligible.

In addition to All-Conference, the WHAC also named its All-Academic Team for sophomores or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA. Nominees also must have been in attendance at the nominating school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team consists of one student-athlete from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
