Higher Seeds Prevail in Women's Lacrosse Tournament

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - (Tournament Page) - The opening day of the 2022 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament saw the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds advance. Third-seeded Aquinas eliminated No. 6 Madonna 18-15 while No. 4 Indiana Tech ousted fifth-seeded Bethel 17-7. Tech now faces top-seeded Lawrence Tech in the semis on April 21 while Aquinas travels to second-seeded Siena Heights.

#4 Indiana Tech (6-3, 8-5) def. #5 Bethel (5-4, 7-8), 17-7
Bethel scored the first two goals of the opening period before Indiana Tech posted four in a row. The Warriors added another gaol early in the second, but the Pilots battled to match IT's scoring with Tech taking an 8-6 lead. Tech exploded for a 5-1 advantage in the third period and added four more goals in the fourth while holding Bethel to just one goal in the final two periods.

After a 4-4 tie at the end of one, Aquinas went up by three goals thanks to a pair of goals by Emma Bailey. MU cut the lead to just two after the third period, but the Saints opened the final period with four straight goals and added a fifth late in the game.
