Lawrence Tech bests Siena Heights in NAIA WLAX Nationals

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - (NAIA Release) - The two Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) teams that played for the WHAC tournament title faced off in a rematch in the first round of the 2022 NAIA Women's Lacrosse National Championship Tournament. The result was the same both times as top-seeded Lawrence Tech edged No. 8-seeded Siena Heights 12-9.

SHU jumped to the early lead with four goals in the opening period while holding the Blue Devils to just two, but LTU bounced back in the second stanza, finding the net three times in the first five minutes before scoring another three in the period. SHU got a pair of goals to make it 8-6 at the half in favor of Lawrence Tech.

The third period saw evenly-matched play as LTU scored twice and SHU scored once for a 10-7 mark. The second period proved too steep for Siena Heights to rally from as both teams scored twice in the final period.

Lawrence Tech remains undefeated at 17-0 and advances to face Reinhardt (Ga.) (14-2) in the semifinals on May 5.
