Lawrence Tech Wins Fourth-Straight Women's Lacrosse Tournament Title

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - (Tournament Page) For the fourth consecutive year, Lawrence Tech Women's Lacrosse has claimed the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tournament title. The top-seeded Blue Devils defeated #2 Indiana Tech 16-9 in the tournament final on the campus of Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon. It's the sixth tournament title for LTU and it comes on the heels of sweeping the regular season for the second consecutive year.

Despite the lopsided final score, it was actually Indiana Tech who came out of the gates hot, scoring two goals in the first five minutes to take a 2-1 lead. Lawrence Tech added a goal before the Warriors stretched the lead back to two goals, 3-1. A pair of late first period goals from the #1 seed tied it up 3-3 at quarter's end.

The next two quarter proved to be the difference makers. LTU scored three times and shutout Indiana Tech in the second to take a 6-3 lead into the half. They blew the game wide open in the third, outscoring the Warriors 6-1 to take a commanding 12-4 advantage. Indiana Tech scored five times in the fourth, but LTU added four more to claim the title with the 16-9 victory.

LTU's Hannah Huebner led the team with five goals followed by Sydney Robinson who scored three and added a game-high seven assists. Da'Zah Regusters scored a team-leading five goals for Indiana Tech.

Lawrence Tech, 14-1 overall, earns the WHAC's auto bid to the NAIA National Championships.
