Aquinas and UNOH advance out of Women's Soccer semifinals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - (TOURNAMENT PAGE) - Top-seeded Aquinas eliminated No. 4 Siena Heights and third-seeded UNOH defeated No. 7 Lawrence Tech in the semifinals of the 2021 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Soccer Tournament. Aquinas won 4-1 while UNOH scored a 6-1 victory.

The two teams now advance to the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 13. Aquinas hosts at 2 p.m. This is the fourth consecutive trip (seventh all-time) to the finals for Aquinas. The Saints won the tournament in 2007 and 2018. UNOH is making its seventh trip to the finals, having won four times, including in 2019 against Aquinas.

All five goals scored were in the first half as Siena Heights took the early lead on an unassisted goal by Emily Broman. Hannah Crum answered for Aquinas in the 18th minute off an assist from Katelyn Kahael, kicking of four straight goals for the Saints. Crum then set up Macy Hollingsworth in the 25th minute. Laia Cunill found the back of the net off a cross from Jenna Konwerski at the 36:11 Mark and Brittney Carter finished the scoring in the 42nd mark with an assist from Emma Gould. The AQ defense held Siena Heights to two shots in the second half and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks

#3 UNOH (12-5-3) def. #7 Lawrence Tech (8-8-3), 6-1
UNOH jumped early and often as Agnes Stefansodottir scored off a free kick with an assist from Nanna Rosengreen at the 7:06 mark of the match. Patricia Gomez Nogue followed six minutes later off a cross from Jeweleen Reuille. Reuille the scored herself from the top right corner of the penalty box in the 15th minute for a 3-0 UNOH lead. Gomez Nogue scored the second goal of her hat trick before LTU got on the board when Jaiden Konrad tapped in a deflected corner kick for a 4-1 score at the half. Ariana Mondiri put a ball into the net off a pass from Gomez Nogue 10 minutes into the second half and Gomez Nogue finished off her hat trick and the scoring with the help of Mondiri in the 78th minute. The Racer defense held the Blue Devils to just four shots in the game - three of which were in the first half.
