UNOH Wins WHAC Women's Soccer Tournament Title

LIMA, Ohio - In a battle of two teams who earned their way to the WHAC Tournament Finals via PK upsets over the #1 and #2 seeds, #3 UNOH hosted #4 Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon. UNOH shutout the Blue Devils and used a four-goal effort to win the Tournament title, their first since 2019 and fifth all-time. The win punches the Racers' ticket to the NAIA National Championship Opening round where they will join regular season co-champion Siena Heights who earned the first of two WHAC auto-bids. Aquinas awaits word on their fate as they seek an NAIA at-large bid.

It was a back-and-forth defensive battle for the first 20 minutes of gameplay until UNOH finally broke through with a Anne Sjolte goal off a Minni Laukka assist for what would be the game winner. UNOH added one more in the 30th minute from Ashley Wilson off the Anne Sjolte assist to take a 2-0 lead into the break. The second half was much of the same as UNOH added a goal in the 53rd minute for Janne Esther Frauenpreiss off the Patricia Blazquez assist and scored their fourth in the 57th minute to make it 4-0. The final goal was scored by Minni Laukka off the Ashley Wilson assist. The defense was stout for UNOH, allowing just one shot on frame which was sent away by keeper Sophia Eisner.
