Aquinas Places Four on Women's Soccer All-America Team

KANASA CITY, Mo. - (NAIA Release) - The 2023 NAIA Women's Soccer All-America team was released on Monday afternoon by the NAIA national office. The WHAC placed four student-athletes on the list, all from Aquinas. Kayla Shuck, Avery Tack and Sydney Shenk all earned Second Team honors while Laia Cunill notched spot on the Third Team.  This is the second consecutive year Aquinas has had four players on the All-America team with Sydney Shenk as the lone athlete to repeat. 

Sydney Shenk was the WHAC Offensive Player of the Year and posted team-highs in points (31), and goals (11) which also led the WHAC. Kayla Shuk was stellar in net for the Saints, allowing just eight goals in 21 games played. She led the WHAC in every major goalkeeper category and posted 14 shutouts. Avery Tack was the WHAC Defensive Player of the Year and played a major part in the record-setting Aquinas defense this season. Tack and Aquinas had a remarkable 15-game shutout streak during the 2023 season. Laia Cunill earned a spot on the third team and was the WHAC leader in assists this season with 11 and score seven goals. The Saints finished 17-1-4 overall and won a share of the WHAC regular season title while earning their third consecutive trip to the NAIA National Tournament Final Site, advancing all the way to the quarterfinals.
