Madonna's Jones, SHU's Valentine win Weekly Awards
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
WHAC SID's have selected Charity Jones (Madonna) as the Track Athlete of the Week and Emma Valentine (Siena Heights) as the Field Athlete of the Week. Jones had a busy weekend on the track, competing at the SVSU Jet's Pizza Invite. Jones finished third in the 200m dash with a time of 25.10, good for an NAIA A standard. That was followed up by a win in the 400m dash with a time of 55.90, another A standard. Jones finished the weekend by helping the 4x400m team finish third. Valentine won the high jump at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic, leaping 1.70m. The jump matched a season high and also qualified as an NAIA A standard. Both athletes win weekly WHAC awards for the first time this season.
