Cornerstone Wins Third-Straight WHAC Cross Country Title

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - (Complete Results) - Cornerstone Women's Cross Country raced their way to a third-consecutive WHAC title earlier this afternoon at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. The Golden Eagles posted 42 points and were paced by WHAC Runner of the Year Hailey Nieuwkoop (21:39.3) who was nearly 20 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Cornerstone had three runners in the top ten including Nieuwkoop (1st), Kori Baumann (4th) and Jacie Remtema (8th). Aquinas checked in at second place, finishing with 73 points, led by top-finisher Madison Rempalski (6th). Indiana Tech's Lisa Voyles (21:58.6) finished in second place and helped the Warriors to a third-place team finish. 

UM-Dearborn finished in fourth place followed by Madonna in fifth place to round out the top five teams.

The top seven finishers earned First-Team All-Conference honors with finishers 8-14 earning Second-Team honors. Cornerstone Head Coach Jason Schalk was named Coach of the Year and Aquinas' Mike Wojciakowski was voted as the Champions of Character Coach. Aquinas' Madison Rempalski was named the Newcomer of the Year.
