Baseball Honors Announced
LIMA, Ohio - (Complete Honors) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its All-Conference Team, All-Academic Team, Gold Glove, and Champions of Character Teams for the 2022 baseball season.
Jake Collins of Cornerstone was named Player of the Year after hitting 12 home runs and leading the league with a .455 batting average. Lawrence Tech senior Alek Wietzyowski was named Pitcher of the Year with a 2.48 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 76.1 innings of work. Collins also earned Newcomer of the Year.
UNOH head coach Kory Hartman was voted as Coach of the Year as he led the Racers to a 19-3 WHAC record (32-11 overall) and the regular-season championship. Scott Kunert of Rochester was named Champions of Character Coach.
Members of the All-AcademicTeam must be a junior or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA while those on the Champions of Character Team best represent the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
