Top Two Seeds Emerge from Women's Basketball Semifinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - (TOURNAMENT PAGE) - The seeding held in the 2022 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Basketball Tournament as the top two teams won their respective semifinal games. Top-seeded Indiana Tech rolled to an 87-56 victory over No. 4-seeded Concordia while second-seeded Rochester escaped an upset-minded, third-seeded Siena Heights 68-66.

Rochester travels to Indiana Tech for the championship game on March. 1.

#1 Indiana Tech (29-2) def. #4 Concordia (19-12), 87-56
The Warriors jumped to a 19-7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as they shot 58.5% from the floor and 45% from behind the three-point arc for the game. Concordia had a strong second half, doubling its output from the second half, but Tech's 30-point third quarter put the game away.

#2 Rochester (23-8) def. #3 Siena Heights (24-8), 68-66
The two teams played a tight first half with Siena Heights taking a 32-29 lead after two quarters. Ninety seconds into the third quarter, SHU went on a 15-0 run during a four-minute period to build a 16-point cushion. Rochester made a run of its own and cut the lead to seven at the end of the third. The Warriors kept clawing in the fourth quarter, but SHU clung to a slim lead until Lauren Wynn hit a jumper with 3:25 left to tie the game. Elysia Mattos hit a layup to put Rochester in the lead and the Warriors found themselves up by five with 19 seconds in the game. Anayna Powell connected from behind the arc to cut the lead to two with five ticks remaining and were forced to foul. Rochester missed both freethrows befor time ran out.
