2023-24 Women's Basketball Honors Announced

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced conference honors for the 2023-24 women's basketball season. First and Second Team All-Conference consist of 10 individuals per team. Additional awards include: All-Defensive Team (five members), All-Freshman Team (five members), Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Coach of the Year, Champion of Character Coach, Champion of Character Team and All-Academic. Awards are selected based on a vote of all WHAC women's basketball head coaches.

Erika Foy of Indiana Tech was named both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. This is the Foy's second year winning the latter after being named Co-Defensive Player of the Year a season ago. A graduate student, Foy broke the all-time scoring record at Indiana Tech this season. She averaged 19.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and shot 53.7% from the field in conference games this season. Alona Blackwell of Aquinas was named the Newcomer of the Year. The senior transfer broke the single-season scoring record at Aquinas. Blackwell led the WHAC in points per game with 26.3 and was top-ten in steals with 37.

Coaches selected Indiana Tech's Jessie Biggs as the Coach of the Year. The Warriors won their third-straight regular season championship with a 22-0 record this season. It was also their sixth in the last seven seasons. The Champion of Character Coach award went to Kevin Mondro of Cleary. Mondro is in his first year as head coach of the upstart Cougar basketball program. 

In addition to All-Conference awards, the WHAC also released its All-Academic and Champions of Character honors. The All-Academic Team consists of sophomores or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA who have been in attendance at their school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team is comprised of one player from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
