FRED SMITH ALL-SPORTS CUP

Fred Smith All-Sports Cup (updated format for 2024-25 season)

1. Fred Smith Cup points are awarded in descending order to full WHAC members based on regular season standings in the 15 conference sports plus an additional five points to the conference tournament champion. The point allocation can be found below.

2. The conference tournament champion for sports without regular season standings (M/W Golf, M/W Track & Field, M/W Cross Country, Esports, Dance) will use the regular season point structure based on the number of participating members. This is to ensure that each sport is weighted evenly and that a first-place finish in one sport is not awarded more points than a first-place finish in another.

3. A total of seven male and seven female sports will be counted for each institution. Sports that have full school participation MUST be counted. Those sports are: M/W Basketball, M/W Soccer, M/W Golf, Baseball and Softball.

4. The points are then calculated by adding the top seven men finishes and the top seven women finishes for each full member school. The team with the highest point total at the end of the spring season will be awarded the Fred Smith All-Sports Cup.

5.  For a sport to be considered in the Fred Smith Cup it must be sponsored by at least six (6) WHAC full members.

6. The calculation of Fred Smith Cup points shall be coordinated by the WHAC Media Director at the conclusion of each sports season and posted to the WHAC website within one week of the conclusion of play.

7. The WHAC Commissioner shall present the Fred Smith Cup Trophy to the winning institution at the year-end WHAC Executive Committee Meeting.

8.  In tie situations points will be split from tied places.

9. For those sports without a regular season, a school must fully participate in the conference event to qualify for points in the Fred Smith Cup.

10. When tie points break out into decimals, we will award based upon two decimal points.

11. Associate members are removed for Fred Smith Cup points and full members are then moved up before assigning the points.
