WHAC Baseball Tournament Pairings Released

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - (TOURNAMENT PAGE) - The seeds and pod assignments for the 2023 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) have been released. The top six teams in the final season standings qualifed for Pod Play with the two Pods hosted by the top two seeds:Concordia and Madonna. 

The next two seeds were decided with UNOH at No. 3 and Aquinas at No. 4. The final two seeds saw Indiana Tech clinch the fifth seed with three wins on the last weekend of the season and Lawrence Tech take the final seed after winning a rescheduled game over Cleary.

Pod Play begins May 4 at both locations. Pod A, hosted by second-seeded Madonna, features the Crusaders, UNOH, and Aquinas. UNOH and Aquinas play the morning gave with the loser playing Madonna in the afternoon. Madonna and the winner of the first game then play the late afternoon game.

Top-seeded Concordia hosts Pod B as the Cardinals welcome Indiana Tech and Lawrence Tech. The latter two take the field at 9 a.m. with the winner playing Concordia at noon. The loser of the first game then plays Concordia later in the afternoon.

The two pod winners advance to the championship round for a best of three games at the higher seed.

Pod A - #2 Madonna, #3 UNOH, #4 Aquinas,  (Madonna hosts)
Day 1 - May 4
Game 1: #3 UNOH vs. #4 Aquinas, 9:30 a.m.
Game 2: #2 Madonna vs. Game 1 loser, 1 p.m.
Game 3: #2 Madonna vs Game 1 winner, 4:30 p.m.

*Day 2 - May 5 (if ALL teams have 1 loss)
Game 4:  #4 Aquinas vs #3, 1 p.m.
Game 5:  #2 Madonna vs Game 4 winner, 4:30 p.m.

*Day 2 - May 5 (if one team is eliminated Day 1)
Game 4: 2-0 Team vs 1-1 Team, 1 p.m.
Game 5: if necessary, 4:30 p.m.

Pod B - #1 Concordia, #5 Indiana Tech, #6 Lawrence Tech (Concordia hosts)
Day 1- May 4
Game 1: #5 Indiana Tech vs. #6 Lawrence Tech, 9 a.m.
Game 2: #1 Concordia vs. Game 1 loser, noon
Game 3: #1 Concordia vs Game 1 winner, 3 p.m.

Game 4:  #6 vs #5, 11 a.m.
Game 5:  #1 Concordia vs Game 4 winner, 2 p.m.

Game 5: if necessary, 2 p.m.
