Aquinas Claims 2023 Competitive Dance Championship

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Aquinas Dance team has done something no other competitive dance team in the conference has done - win the WHAC Championship. The 2023 event, hosted by Madonna, was staged at the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena at the PAAAC.

The Saints posted an overall score of 82.18 to win their fourth consecutive as the only team to win the title since the WHAC first sponsored the sport in 2020. AQ scored 83.00 in the preliminary round that accounted for 25% of the overall score, and 81.83 in the final round for the overall score.

Madonna and Siena Heights finished the competition tied for second with Madonna getting the bump due to the tiebreaker procedure of the higher score in the final round. MU scored an 80.17 and SHU finished with 80.13. Concordia (69.59), Lawrence Tech (66.05) and Lourdes (64.99) rounded out the scoring.

With the title, Aquinas also receives the league's automatic berth to the NAIA Northeast Grouping Regional Qualifying Event Feb. 24 hosted by Aquinas.
