WHAC Announces Men's Basketball Conference Honors
FORT WAYNE, Ind. The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its conference honors for men's basketball for the 2022-23 season.
Rog Stein of Indiana Tech earned Player of the Year after leading the Warriors to an 18-2 conference record. Cory McKinney, also of Indiana Tech, made it three-in-a-row for Defensive Player of the Year. Gunner Walters of Rochester received Newcomer of the Year.
Indiana Tech head coach Ted Albert was voted as Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to the conference title. Lawrence Tech head coach Josh Pickens earned Champions of Character Coach for his commitment to the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
In addition to First and Second Team All-Conference, the WHAC also named an All-Defensive Team and an All-Newcomer Team. Juniors or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA were awarded All-Academic Team honors. Nominees also must have been in attendance at the nominating school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team consists of one player from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
