NAIA Men's Basketball First & Second Round Features Three from WHAC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (NAIA Release) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced the 64-team field and pairings for the 2023 NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship. The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has three teams included: Indiana Tech, Madonna, and Lourdes.

The tournament will begin with the 2023 NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship First & Second Rounds, presented by Ballogy, on March 7 at host sites throughout the country.

Indiana Tech (27-4) earned an automatic berth as the WHAC regular-season champions and is one of 16 hosts. In their 14th appearance, Tech welcomes Iowa Wesleyan, Evangel (Mo.), and will face IU South Bend in the Liston Quadrant.

Game 1 - No. 7 Iowa Wesleyan vs. No. 10 Evangel, noon
Game 2 - No. 2 Indiana Tech vs. No. 15 IU South Bend, 2 p.m.


Madonna (24-7) took the WHAC's second automatic berth as the conference tournament champion for its fourth appearance. The Crusaders sit as a No. 9 seed travel to Winonan Lake, Ind. to face Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) as part of the Duer Quadrant. Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and Columbia International (S.C.) join to round out the teams.

Game 2 - No. 8 Olivet Nazarene vs. No. 9 Madonna, 8 p.m.


Lourdes received an At-Large berth for its fourth appearance with a 22-8 ecord. The Gray Wolves sit as a 14 seed and face host Georgetown (Ky.) as part of the Duer Quadrant. They are joined by Indiana Wesleyan and MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.).
