LTU's Salamone, Madonna's Young Wins Weekly Awards
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Men's Basketball Player of the Week Award, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
This week, the WHAC SIDs have chosen Jimmy Salamone (Lawrence Tech) as the Offensive Player of the Week and Brendan Young (Madonna) as the Defensive Player of the Week. Salamone averaged 23.5 points per game on 41.7% shooting in a 1-1 week for LTU. Salamone also added seven assists, three steals and 12 rebounds to earn his first player of the week honor of the season. Brendan Young earns a defensive honor this week, following his efforts in leading the surging Crusaders to a pair of wins over Lourdes and Cornerstone. Young had four blocks, a steal and 12 defenseive rebounds in two wins. He also scored 12.5 points per game.
