Lawrence Tech wins NAIA Men's Bowling National Championship

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - (NAIA Release) - Lawrence Tech battled through the consolation bracket to win the 2023 NAIA Men's Bowling National Championship at Five Star Lanes. The Blue Devils forced Marian (Ind.) to the if necessary match where they won 3-1 for their first national title.

The first day of the championship saw teams in Baker play with each rolling six sets of four rounds. Defending national champion Indiana Tech posted a high score of 5400 (859, 889, 1068, 849, 919, 816) and Lawrence Tech ended with a score of 5265 (796, 836, 955, 830, 889, 959) qualifying both for the double-elimination bracket round as the top two seeds. 

As the number one seed, Indiana Tech won its first bracket match but fell to sixth-seeded St. Xavier (Ill.) to drop to the consolation bracket. Second-seeded Lawrence Tech won its first two bracket matches with 3-1 scores before falling to fourth-seeded Marian by the same score. IT battled through the consolation bracket to face Lawrence Tech before being eliminated. The LTU win sent the Blue Devils to the championship round where they would need to win two for the title. In a heated match, LTU emerged with a 3-2 victory to force the if necessary match where LTU won 3-1 to claim its first national championship and the second for a WHAC team. 

Jacob Kujaw of LTU was named the championship's Most Valuable Player and headlined the All-Tournament Team that also included Blue Devil Corner Nowak and Indiana Tech's Parker Laubach.
