UNOH Holds on to win Men's Golf Championship
AUGUSTA, Mich. - (COMPLETE RESULTS) - UNOH returned to the top of the podium by winning the 2023 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Golf Championship on Stoatin Brae Course at Gull Lake View Resort. The Racers bested defending champion Lawrence Tech by one stroke, posting a three-round total of 869 for +17 on the Par 71, 6,742-yard course.
The Racers held a 10-stroke lead after the first day with a two-round +7. Lawrence Tech shot a tournament-low 285 in the final round to pull to within one stroke, but three Racers shot a one-over to secure the win. It's the fifth championship for UNOH and the first since the 2019-20 season where the champion was decided by scores through four jamborees in the fall.
UNOH placed two golfers in the Top 5 as Noah Honinger shot a -1 for second place and Guillermo Garron tied for fourth at +4. The Racers receive the league's automatic berth to the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship May 16-19 in Mesa, Arizona.
Brandon Petzak of Madonna shot a two-under 211 to be named individual medalist.
