Conference Honors for Men's Lacrosse Announced

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released the 2023 season honors for men's lacrosse in conjunction with the tournament semifinal matchs on April 27. All-Conference Teams and individual special honors were voted on by the head coaches in the league.

Damien Hudson of Lawrence Tech earned Offensive Player of the Year honors as he tallied 42 goals and 20 assists. Jeff Varner of Madonna earned Defensive Player of the Year with 267 saves with a .639 save percentage. Madonna freshman Shane Alexander was awarded Newcomer of the Year with 30 goals and 19 assists.

Coach of the Year was awarded to Ty McGuire of Concordia after he lead the Cardinals to their first regular-season title with a perfect 8-0 record. UM-Dearborn head coach Jason West was voted as the Champions of Character Coach for his commitment to building character through sport.

In addition to First and Second Team All-Conference, the WHAC also announced its All-Academic Team (juniors or above in academic standing with cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and in attendance at nominating school for one full year) and the Champions of Character Team (one player from each team who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership).
