Madonna's Varner, UM-Dearborn's Kelley named MLAX Players of the Week
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
WHAC SID's have selected Nolan Kelley (UM-Dearborn) as the Offensive Player of the Week and Jeff Varner (Madonna) as the Defensive Player of the Week. Kelley helped UM-Dearborn to a 1-1 record including a 12-11 win over Life (GA) in which he scored eight goals to tie the program record for goals in a game. He followed that up with a four-goal effort against SCAD. Varner led the Crusaders to a 2-0 week against two teams receiving votes. He made 25 saves against Benedictine and 14 against Columbia for a 39-save week.
