UNOH Finishes Season in NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship Semifinals
MOBILE, Ala. - The UNOH men's tennis team ended their season in the semifinals of the 2023 NAIA National Championship at the Mobile Tennis Center. It's the first trip to the semis for UNOH as the Racers finished with an 18-6 overall record.
UNOH received a first-round bye as the No. 6 seed and took two days to finish their second-round match as inclement weather forced play to be suspended for the day. When play resumed the following day, UNOH swept #11 Cumberlands (Ky.). In the quarterinals, UNOH swept #14 Coastal Georgia for its first quarterfinal win in five tries.
The semifinal match proved too much as UNOH was blanked by second-seeded Georgia Gwinnett - the same team that eliminated the Racers from the quarterfinals last year.
Sergio Conde won scored two singles points and teamed up with Giovanni Branchetti for two doubles points during the tournament. Branchetti also scored a singles point. Malik Omarkhanov and Martin Stanchev wenth 2-1 at No. 1 doubles.
