Blacknell and Smith win First Outdoor Weekly Awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.

WHAC SID's have selected Deveyon Blacknell (Madonna) as the Track Athlete of the Week and Scott Smith (Concordia) as the Field Athlete of the Week. Blacknell wins his first outdoor weekly award thanks to his efforts at the Victor Lopez Classic in Texas. He won the 200m dash, hitting an A standard with a time of 21.08. He was also a part of the 4x100m team that broke the school record with a time of 40.16. This is the 9th fastest time in NAIA history. Smith wins his first weekly honor thanks to a third place finish in javelin at the IWU Polar Bear Invitational. His top-three throw was marked at 49.68m. He also competed in the shot put with a throw of 11.09m.
