MVNU Sweeps First Weekly Men's Volleyball Awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Men's Volleyball Player of the Week Awards, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.

This week, WHAC Sports Information Directors have selected Landon Ewers (Mount Vernon Nazarene) as the Attacker of the Week, Luke Funte (Mount Vernon Nazarene) as the Defender of the Week and Jaysen Matsumoto (Mount Vernon Nazarene) as the Setter of the Week. Mount Vernon Nazarene earned a pair of wins to kick off their season thanks to the trio of award winners. Ewers averaged 3.29 kills per set while hitting .68 and averaging 1.29 blocks per set. Funte had 13 blocks across two wins for MVNU and averaged 1.29 blocks per set. He also had nine total kills. Matsumoto was stellar, tallying 70 assists, averaging 10 per set. He added nine blocks, including six against Trinity Christian.
