Softball Players of the Week to Breinager and Schlaud
Faith Breinager of Siena Heights and Maeson Schlaud of Madonna earned the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) softball weekly awards.
Breinager earned Player of the Week after hitting .550 while driving in 10 RBI on 11 hits. The freshman recorded a hit in all by one game and scored in all but two games.
Schlaud picked up her third Pitcher of the Week honor with 33 strikeouts in 21 innings of work. The junior scattered seven hits over four games while giving up no earned runs.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Faith Breinager, Siena Heights
(Fr., SS - Frankenmuth, Mich.) - Helped SHU win 6 conference games on the week. She had a hit in every game except for a five inning game where she had a walk in two plate appearances. Scored a run in all but two games. Went 7-12 with runners on and 4-8 with bases empty. 6 of her 10 RBI came with two outs. Her two RBI with two outs against Cornerstone started a rally for six runs after being down 4-0 in the second inning. Her two RBI with two outs against Lawrence Tech started a four run two out inning which were the only runs in the 4-3 win. Her two RBI with two outs in the Rochester game proved to be the game winning RBI.
