2023 Softball Honors Awarded
SYLVANIA, Ohio - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released its 2023 Softball Honors in conjunction with the conference tournament at Pacesetter Park.
Payton Lewis of Concordia earned Player of the Year with a .446 batting average and driving in 32 runs. Maeson Schlaud of Madonna repeated as Pitcher of the Year as she went 19-4 with a 1.37 ERA while striking out 214. The WHAC named Co-Newcomer of the Year in Katie Tobias of Concordia and Indiana Tech's Jordan Dippel.
Indiana Tech head coach Stephanie Zimny was voted as Coach of the Year after guiding the Warriors to their first-ever softball championship. Hailey Cavanagh of Concordia was voted as the Champions of Character Coach for her commitment to developing character through sport.
Members of the All-AcademicTeam must be a junior or above in academic standing with a cumulative 3.25 GPA while those on the Champions of Character Team best represent the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. The All-Defensive Team honors one player in each position for their defensive achievements.
