Top Two Seeds Eliminated in WHAC Softball Tournament

SYLVANIA, Ohio - (TOURNAMENT PAGE) - For the first time in tournament history, the top two seeds in the 2023 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Softball Tournament bowed out on the first day. The double-elimination tournament, hosted by Lourdes, is being played at Pacesetter Park. 

Eighth-seeded Lawrence Tech needed two extra innings to drop top-seeded Indiana Tech to the consolation bracket. The Blue Devils pulled out a 4-3 win in nine innings and then Aquinas won 1-0 to eliminate Indiana Tech. The last time a No. 1 seed was gone on Day 1 was 2018. zNo. 7 Cornerstone dropped second-seeded UNOH into the lower bracket with a 4-2 win before No. 6 UM-Dearborn eliminated the Racers 4-0.

Cornerstone and Madonna remain undefeated while Aquinas, UM-Dearborn, Lawerence Tech, and Concordia all have one loss each.  Elimination games start at noon on Thursday, May 4 with Concordia facing Aquinas and UM-Dearborn taking on Lawrence Tech. Madonna and Cornerstone play at 2:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game.
