2024 Softball Preseason Coaches Poll Released
Head softball coaches in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference have voted Concordia as the preseason favorite for the upcoming 2024 season. The Cardinals received seven of 12 first place votes and 136 total points to earn the top spot in the poll. Concordia finished in a tie for second place with 44-17 (16-6 WHAC) record a season ago. They were WHAC tournament runners-up, falling to Madonna in the tournament final. On the heels of a WHAC tournament title and NAIA National championships appearance, Madonna earned 127 points and a first place vote to tie for second place in the poll with Indiana Tech. Madonna finished fourth in the regular season (38-14, 15-7), but went on to win the WHAC tournament as the #4 seed. Indiana Tech also earned 127 points and received three first place votes to check in tied for second. The Warriors won the 2023 WHAC regular season title, their first ever, with a 41-12 (18-4 WHAC) record. Indiana Tech and Madonna represented the WHAC in the NAIA National Championships Opening Round. The final first place vote went to the Racers of UNOH, who are ranked fourth in the preseason poll with 111 points. UNOH finished in a tie for second place in the 2023 regular season but earned the #2 seed in the WHAC tournament by way of tiebreaker criteria. They concluded 2023 with a 30-19 (16-6 WHAC) record.
Regular season WHAC play gets started on March 22 with a full slate of games. The WHAC tournament will take place at Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio May 1-3. The winner of the regular season receives the WHAC's first of two automatic berths to the 2023 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round.
