Madonna Earns Regular Season Softball Title with Unbeaten Season

The Madonna Crusaders have claimed the 2024 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season championship, it's first since 2022 and 10th all-time. The Crusaders went undefeated in regular season play, finishing a perfect 22-0 after a pair of victories over Concordia on Sunday afternoon in Livonia. Their unbeaten season is only the second in conference history and the first in 30 years as Siena Heights went 10-0 in 1993. Madonna's current winning streak is at 23 games with their last lost coming in a non-conference tilt in Arizona on March 15. 

UNOH finished in second place with a 16-6 record in WHAC action and will be the number two seed in the upcoming tournament. Aquinas and Concordia each finished 15-7 to tie for third place. The Saints hold the tiebreaker with Concordia and will hold the number three seed in the tournament which begins on Wednesday in Sylvania. Madonna will defend their 2023 tournament title as the top seed. 

The top eight teams qualify for the WHAC softball Tournament May 1-3 at Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio. As conference champion, Madonna earns the WHAC's first automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. The winner of the tournament, or the runner-up if Madonna wins, will earns the league's second bid.
