Madonna Finishes as National Runner-up at NAIA Women's Bowling Championship

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - (NAIA Release) - Madonna ended the season as the national runner-ups after falling to SCAD-Savannah 3-1 in the title match of the 2023 NAIA Women's Bowling National Championship at Five Star Lanes. The Crusaders fought an uphill battle after losing its first match and played their way to the title match through the consolation bracket. 

Indiana Tech took the top seed after rolling a 4800 (764, 821, 843, 812, 821, 739) during the six Baker games. Madonna landed in 10th with a 4423 score (755, 691, 703, 757, 778, 739). Top-seeded Tech received a bye in the first round of bracket play while Madonna lost 3-0 against Pikeville (Ky.) to fall into the consolation bracket. Indiana Tech won its next two matches against Milligan (Tenn.) and Ottawa (Kan) to advance and Madonna did the same, defeating Milligan and William Penn (Iowa) to remain alive. 

Madonna capture two more wins against St. Francis (Ill.) and Spring Arbor (Mich.) while Indiana Tech fell to SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) to force an all-WHAC match up for the second spot in the title match. Madonna emerged with a 3-0 sweep to face SCAD-Savannah for the championship when the toll of six matches struck. The Crusaders lost 3-1 to finish the season as national runner-ups.

Crusader Emily Gurin and Indiana Tech's Lakyn Edwards were named to the All-Tournament Team.
