Women's Lacrosse Conference Honors Released
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released the 2023 season honors for women's lacrosse in conjunction with the tournament semifinal matchs on April 20. All-Conference Teams and individual special honors were voted on by the head coaches in the league.
Sydney Robinson of Lawrence Tech earned Offensive Player of the Year honors as she tallied 34 goals and 35 assists. Bella Burke of Lawrence Tech was voted as Midfielder of the Year after leading the conference with 54 goals and 86 draw controls while finishing second with 71 ground balls. Aquinas' Alexis Villarini earned Defensive Player of the Year with 32 ground balls and 22 draw controls while causing 18 turnovers. Marian freshman Ella Grace Giedd was awarded Newcomer of the Year with 47 goals and 28 assists.
Coach of the Year was awarded to Mary Ann Meltzer of Lawrence Tech after she lead the Blue Devils to the regular-season title with a perfect 9-0 record. Marian head coach Allie Storke-Sneed was voted as the Champions of Character Coach in her first season with the WHAC.
In addition to First and Second Team All-Conference, the WHAC also announced its All-Academic Team (juniors or above in academic standing with cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and in attendance at nominating school for one full year) and the Champions of Character Team (one player from each team who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership).
