
Smythe and Hirsch named final Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Award, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.
This week, the WHAC SIDs have chosen Alaina Smythe (Lawrence Tech) and Katherine Hirsch (Marian) as the Defensive Player of the Week. Smythe led Lawrence Tech to a pair of WHAC wins to conclude the regular season. She scored 13 goals and added two assists for 15 points in the two matches. She also added seven ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover. Hirsch was great in goal for Marian, leading them to a pair of WHAC wins over Indiana Tech and Siena Heights. She made 17 saves to go 2-0, including eight saves against No. 7 Indiana Tech.
