Aquinas Falls in NAIA Women's Soccer Quarterfinals

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The Aquinas women's soccer team made history in the 2022 season, breaking a program record for wins (21), a team record for 18-straight victories, and its very first NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship quaterfinal appearance. The Saints, seeded eighth, outlasted No. 9 Westmont 2-1 in the first match at the final site before falling to top-seeded Keiser (Fla.) in the quarterfinals.

No. 8 Aquinas def. No. 9 Westmont, 2-1

Westmont led the scoring in the 30th minute with a goal from Katie DeMillo, her first of the final site, to put the Warriors on top 1-0. Aquinas countered early in the second half when Hannah Crum netted her a goal to even the score in the 49th minute. Macy Hollingsworth put the game away late for Aquinas when the senior scored off a perfect cross from Laia Cunill that was headed on by Maeva Lichtensteiger. with just nine minutes remaining to put the game away for her squad.


No. 1 Keiser def. No. 8 Aquinas, 1-0

After 76 minutes of scoreless soccer, Keiser wore down the Aquinas defense and Lauren Riley snuck one past off an assist by Maja Henriksson. Aquinas was not able to find the net despite outshooting the Seahawks 10-8 and 4-3 on shots on goal. Kayla Shuk made a pair of saves for the Saints. Keiser advanced to face No. 4-seeded Spring Arbor (Mich.) in the NAIA National Tournament semifinals while Aquinas ends its season at 21-3-1.
