WHAC Announces Women's Tennis Honors

MAUMEE, Ohio - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its Women's Tennis Honors in conjunction with the the league's tournament at Shadow Valley Tennis Club. 

Cornerstone junior Ximena Matamoros was named Player of the Year after going 7-2 in singles to lead the Golden Eagles to their first conference title. Newcomer of the Year went to freshman Sophie Smith, also from Cornerstone, who posted a 9-3 singles record and 10-1 in doubles play.

Cornerstone head coach Elijah Yi repeasted Coach of the Year after guiding CU to a 6-0 league record. The coaches also voted him as the sport's Champion of Character Coach.

In addition to First Team All-Conference, the WHAC also announced its All-Academic Team (juniors or above in academic standing with cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and in attendance at nominating school for one full year) and the Champions of Character Team (best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership).
