LTU's Tome, IT's Ali sweep final hockey weekly awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Ice Hockey Player of the Week Awards, presented by PCC Sports, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.

This week, the WHAC SIDs have chosen Brett Tome (Lawrence Tech) as the Defensive Player of the Week and Malik Ali (Indiana Tech) as the Offensive Player of the Week. Tome wins his fourth WHAC Defensive Player of the Week award and second straight thanks to a pair of stellar games against UM-Dearborn in which he notched 79 saves. He made a career-high 53 saves in an overtime win to secure the weekend and season sweep of UM-Dearborn and lock in the #2 seed in the upcoming WHAC Championships. Ali helped wins his first WHAC weekly honors for scoring five goals along with three assists for an eight point weekend against Rochester.
