Three Qualify for NAIA Women's Basketball First & Second Round

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (NAIA Release) - The NAIA officially announced the teams and for the 2023 NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship First & Second Round with three teams coming from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC). Indiana Tech, Rochester, and Siena Heights are all part of the 64-team bracket that begins with the first and second rounds at host sites across the country on March 7-8.

The winners will meet up in Sioux City, Iowa, at the NAIA National Championship final site presented by Bomgaars and Sterling. The 42nd annual championship takes place at the Tyson Events Center from March 13-18.

Indiana Tech qualified with an automatic berth as the WHAC regular-season champion and is a No. 5 seed. Tech went 18-2 in WHAC play and sits at 26-5 overall as part of the Liston Quadrant. It's the 12th appearance for the Warriors and they are one of 16 hosts. Tech plays Bryan (Tenn.) while Briar Cliff (Iowa) and Missouri Baptist meet up.

Rochester (21-10) qualifed with an automatic berth as the WHAC tournament champion. This is RU's third appearance with the
Warriors seeded as a No. 15 and playing host Carroll (Mont.) in Helana, Mont. as part of the Liston Quadrant. Jamestown (N.D.) and IU South Bend are the other two teams.

Game 2 - No. 2 Carroll vs. No. 15 Rochester, 7 p.m.


Siena Heights qualifed with an at-large berth with a 26-6 overall record and is making its sixth appearance. A No. 13 seed, the Saints play host and No. 4 seed Rio Grande in the Rio Grande, Ohio site out of the Duer Quadrant. Pikeville (Ky.) and Grace (Ind.) round out the field.
